I remember as a teenager when I first noticed my dark under eye circles. I must have been about 11 or 12 years old and as I stared into the mirror, I couldn't understand why I looked so tired. I knew the dark circles weren't from lack of sleep or drinking enough water. At that time I was too young to understand the real reason why.
It was because I was part of the fortunate group that got this due of my genetics.
Yes, you read that correctly. I said “fortunate” because as I got older I realized that a “flaw” made me notice and appreciate something good in my life… something I had completely taken for granted.
I had to reach my late 30s to realize this, but now when I look in the mirror and see my dark circles my first thought isn't of frustration from dealing with this. It's gratitude! I'm thankful that I have eyes, gift of sight and the option to “customize” my look on a whim.
Today my simple, easy technique to cover up my dark circles has turned into a time for gratitude and saying my affirmation….
“Thank for my beautiful eyes”.
